Gives practical help and advice and perform nursing duties such as taking blood and other samples, cervical smears, dressings, ear syringing, checking blood pressure. She gives injections and advice on immunisation. She also helps us run Diabetes, Asthma, Heart Disease and smoking cessation clinics.

Ian Hadlow Registered Nurse-Mental Health, Specialist Practitioner-Mental Health

Dip in Nursing, BSc(Hons) Community Mental Health, PgCert in Systemic Family Therapy

Ian is an experienced mental health nurse who has recently joined the practice. He is able to assess and signpost patients to the most appropriate local services with Bolton.

Health Improvement Practitioner

Misbah Liaquat will offer help and encouragement to local people over 45 who are at risk of heart disease and will be offering advice on how to achieve a more healthy lifestyle providing guidance and support with such things as giving up smoking, eating healthily, exercise, stress management and reducing alcohol consumption.

MUSCULOSKELETAL PRACTITIONER

James is our Musculoskeletal Practitioner and he is able to help with problems such as joint pain, muscle aches and pain and other similar issues.  He is with us on a Wednesday afternoon and you do not need a referral from the Doctor to see him, you can make an appointment as you would with any GP.

SOCIAL PRESCRIBING LINK WORKER

Jayne is our social prescriber link worker.

It’s estimated that one in five of the people who go to see their doctor are troubled by things that can’t be cured by medical treatment, like the effects of poor housing, debt, stress and loneliness. Many people are overwhelmed and can’t reach out to make the connections that could make a difference to their situation. This is especially true for people who have long-term conditions, who need support with their mental health, who are lonely or isolated, or who have complex social needs which affect their wellbeing.

And that’s where our social prescriber link worker comes in.  Jayne can help people to identify what matters to them, and work out how to connect with the activities that might make a difference, giving people a sense of belonging that comes from being part of a community group. This can help people to stay physically and mentally well for longer and manage the long-term conditions they might be living with.

PARAMEDIC

We now have Stephen who is a Paramedic at our practice.

Stephen works with all 7 practices of our Primary Care Network.  He runs a clinic at our practice:

• Mondays 9am - 2.45pm

He has been employed to supports the doctors, seeing patients and visiting. He is able to assess your problem, examine you, organise any tests that may be required and decide, with you, a course of treatment.

PARAMEDIC

We now have David who is a Paramedic at our practice.

David works with all 7 practices of our Primary Care Network.  He runs a clinic at our practice:

• Thursdays 8.30am - 11.4am

He has been employed to supports the doctors, seeing patients and visiting. He is able to assess your problem, examine you, organise any tests that may be required and decide, with you, a course of treatment.

The practice manager organises the day to day management of the surgery. She deals with any problem concerning the surgery, and welcomes any suggestion you may have to improve service.

Our team of receptionists deal with clinic appointments, repeat prescriptions and visit requests. They may appear to be asking personal questions but they are only following instructions necessary to deal with your treatment, query or request. If you prefer to discuss matters more privately please ask to speak away from the waiting room.

The midwife and her team look after all the pregnant women until they have returned home and settled with their babies. They are based on Ward M4, The Royal Bolton Hospital (Tel: 390631).

Look after our patients who need nursing care at home. They can also get in touch with other specialist community nurses in Bolton. They can be contacted on 01204 462626.

A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.
